Matexi to tackle Brussels challenges

There is much talk of the demographic growth of Brussels, and of the need for a ‘denser’ built environment. Now, in announcing an addition to its management team, house-builder Matexi has laid out its interpretation of just what this density means.

First of all, the announcement: Luc Parmentier has just started his functions as Business Unit Manager for Matexi in Brussels. The company says that it wishes to become a ‘developer of districts’ and the new nomination underlines its ambitions in this domain. Luc Parmentier brings with him a wealth of experience in the real estate sector, including recently as Deputy Director of Real Estate Development at Besix Red. Matexi CEO Gaëtan Hannecart speaks of this experience being of ‘the real estate challenges of the 21st century’.

Moving on to the built environment, Matexi says that in the future, residential buildings will have to be vertical in nature, higher and more compact, and interlinked horizontally. This means being surrounded by green areas and close to services and facilities. In Brussels, this will be in order to respond to demographic growth expected to reach 6.09% by 2030, compared to 5.14% for the other two regions together.
