There is further development in the dossier of the former police site located just off the Boulevard Général Jacques in Brussels. The Bouwmeester (Master Architect) Kristiaan Borret has issued a call for tenders from teams wishing to take charge of the public areas of the site. This will include a public park, street furniture, lighting, signage and parking arrangements among others, and all without compromising the nature of the area. The plans will also be required to take account of mobility. Along with all of this, a large internal court is envisage, for multi-purpose use, connecting with the ground floors of the central buildings.

The site itself, which extends to almost four hectares, is earmarked to accommodate local services for the university which is just on the other side of the boulevard, along with both student and family housing. While the site is currently closed to the outside (as a former barracks/police site would naturally be) the plans for a whole new district include opening it out to its surroundings. All of this is to be undertaken with a high level of respect for sustainability and the environment. The administrative masterplan for the site is currently under discussion by the Brussels Region.
