Club Med confirms co-working surge

There has been a further confirmation that co-working is attracting an increasing number of companies. In Brussels, operator Silversquare has welcomed French holiday company Club Med to its space at the top of the Avenue Louise., just before the entrance to the Bois de la Cambre. This move by Club Med also demonstrates that while co-working was originally perceived as being an ideal solution for small companies – perhaps 1 to 6 people – which were not ready to invest in classic office leases, its reach is now far wider. Large companies such as Club Med see co-working spaces as a reflection of the way they want to work and to look after their personnel, and not merely as a stop-gap before moving on to something ‘more permanent’. The community aspect of working in this manner is proving to be very popular.

It is now possible to say that co-working is a market which occupies a very substantial proportion of overall office space. At a presentation by Colliers during Mipim, for example, it was stated that up to one million square metres of space is used in this way in London. Where Brussels is concerned, it should also not be forgotten that the very first Regus centre in the world opened almost three decades ago on this very same Avenue Louise – at Stephanie Square to be precise.

Speaking of his company’s decision to move into Silversquare, Eric Geoges, Director General of Club Med Benelux, says: “By bringing the activities of our central headquarters into the Silversquare offices, we are of course reinforcing the internal collaboration between our various departments and teams. But the co-working concept is pushing us to widen our horizons, change our ideas, meet new people and collaborate with many companies which also work within Silversquare”.
