Gregory Olszewski brings real estate show back to Brussels

Brussels is once again to have a professional real estate trade fair in May next year. Following the departure of Realty to Knokke in September, Matexpo subsidiary We Are Real Estate has responded to what it says is market demand, and is to put on the show (under the same name of We Are Real Estate) at Brussels Expo Hall 7 on May 22-23. This event also marks the return of two of the personalities who built up Realty in the early years: Gregory Olszewski, the company’s director, and communications head Valerie Neyt.

Gregory Olszewski explains that he is convinced that there is a need for a show in Brussels, the political heart of the country and of Europe, which is also home to many of the key players in the market. The fair will have some new and unique features. Firstly, all the exhibitors (they are hoping for 60) will be obliged to make a 15 minute presentation on a real estate topic, not a marketing exercise for their own company. This is part of the ‘learning’ philosophy for the show, the other two focal points being investing and networking. Secondly, no exhibitor will be allowed to take a very large stand to the detriment of the visibility of the others; stand sizes are 24, 36 or 48 m², costing € 7,900, € 11,900 and € 16,900 respectively. And thirdly, the cost of the stand is all-in – basic fitting and catering included. This last point also applies to visitors (who will pay € 150 or € 225 for one or two days) – they will receive food and refreshments as part of the deal.

The fair will be alcohol-free until 4.00 pm (opening hours 10.00 am to 8.00 pm), following which alcohol is allowed as the networking period begins. We Are Real Estate are hoping to attract 2,000 visitors in the first year.
