Major Genappe project gets green light

The district-scale I-Dyle project by Matexi in Genappe has taken a further step forward with the granting of the planning permit by the local authorities. Corine Buffoni, Business Unit Manager for Matexi Brabant Wallon, explains the company’s thinking: “I-Dyle will offer quality housing in a sustainable district as defined by the Walloon frame of reference. This will be a district which favours public and community spaces, providing pleasant places to live in tune with their environment in the wider sense of the term”.

In concrete terms, this means paying attention to resource and waste management, a mix of functions, flexible residential units and green areas. The housing will feature planted roofs and benefit from a high level of insulation, along with rain water management. Charging points for electric cars will be provided. Public areas will represent around a third of the space.

I-Dyle will include 135 houses and 115 apartments, along with a communal crèche, a community room and a café/restaurant zone.
