Flanders projects on the move
There is updated news on some of the key projects taking place in Flanders. Firstly, Forum in Ghent is expecting to see the first of four buildings delivered in the second quarter of 2020, with the others phased up to the first quarter of 2021. Forum is set to cover some 4.5 hectares of space, accommodating business and housing facilities on the banks of the Schelde just outside the city centre. It is being developed by Maes group subsidiary Alides REIM.
Secondly, the Kortrijk Business Park development by Verstraete close to Kortrijk XPO is now under construction (18,000 m²) and is 25% pre-let. There will be a restaurant and what is described as a multi-functional high tech conference room. Completion is scheduled for the summer of next year.
The spectacular Helix Towers by Ghelamco, also in Kortrijk, will see 22,000 m² of residential accommodation with 5,000 m² of offices and 3,000 m² of retailing. On the waterfront site of the former ‘Oude Blekerij’ Helix Towers will see its building permit request lodged with the authorities during the second quarter of this year.
And finally, as announced by broker JLL, Post X in Antwerp alongside Berchem station and the Ring, has just attracted six new tenants, meaning that the 134,000 m² are now more than 90% let. In addition, next month (April) will see the commercial functions of the site opening. These are a Lidl supermarket, a fitness centre, a Park Inn hotel and, on the business front, a Spaces co-working centre.
