Beaulieu set for renovation

There has been a transaction involving one of the iconic buildings of the European Union in Brussels. La Hulpe-based developer Atenor has signed an agreement with Immo-Beaulieu for the acquisition of the ‘Beaulieu’ buildings located at numbers 5-7-9-11 of the avenue of the same name in Auderghem. These are the buildings seen on the right by all motorists taking the ‘straight-on’ route onto the E 411 from Delta. The buildings date from 1993 and are occupied by the European Commission up to 31 December 2020. They stand in an area that is subject to a Herrmann-Debroux PAD (land-use master plan) project currently under public inquiry. The public authority, through this planning operation, aims to improve the coherence and quality of life of a highly important city gateway.

Atenor says of the operation that in its capacity as urban developer, it intends to play an operational role in the implementation of urban renewal. The massive presence of the European Commission in this district is another factor that was taken into consideration in this acquisition. Notoriously obsolete (at just 26 years old!), these buildings will be subject to thorough study to determine the best economic and environmental alternative for their redevelopment. After extending its operations in the Brussels North District, Atenor points out that through this additional step, it is confirming a major presence in districts of prime importance in the Brussels Region.
