Flanders presence at Mipim to end?

There may be a significant change in the way Belgium is represented at the Mipim real estate show in Cannes next March. As reported by Philippe Coulée in ‘L’Echo’, the city of Antwerp has indicated that it will no longer form part of the ‘Flanders’ stand. This part of the Belgian zone was made up of Ghent (which had already decided to leave) and Antwerp. It represented a relatively small area between the Brussels Region and Wallonia, within the Belgian pavilion.

The withdrawal of Antwerp thus leaves Flanders without any major representative, and may call the future of Belgium in this zone it has occupied since 2014 into doubt. It may be remembered that Antwerp had a presence at Mipim many years ago, but withdrew for a first time following a scandal involving delegates’ expenses. Philippe Coulée puts forward some views on why the city has decided to leave this time, in his article.
