While there is much speculation and not a little frustration when it comes to the administrative process which surrounds real estate development in Brussels, there has as yet been no precise record of what is actually taking place on the ground. With the emphasis on charts and figures rather than words, has drawn up an analysis of permits granted in 2018 and 2019.

This shows that densification is the order of the day across the Region, and that residential accommodation is very much the preferred activity. This includes the conversion of former industrial buildings into housing or educational facilities. The report also looks at how the various charters (PRAS, ZEMU…) affect or impose the type of development to take place.
