The two Belgian projects to have been selected for the finals of the Mipim Awards this year are, firstly, in the ‘Best Healthcare Development’ category, the MontLégia General Hospital in Liège, a development by local healthcare body CHC. The Architects are Assar Architects / ARTAU Architects. Greisch (Structural Engineers) and Tractebel Engineering (Building Services) are also involved in the project.

In the ‘Best Refurbished Building’ category the recently opened Gare Maritime (Brussels, Tour & Taxis) has made it to the finals. This is a development by Extensa Group, with the architectural elements being provided by Neutelings Riedijk Architecten (Rotterdam) and Bureau Bouwtechniek (Brussels). Other involved parties include among others Ney & Partners and Boydens (Engineering) and MBG (General contractor).

The winners will once again be selected on a 50/50 basis, with delegates’ votes cast online and on site before and during Mipim September Edition 2021, carrying equal weight with the jury’s own votes. In addition, the jury of real estate experts from around the world will award one more prize – the ‘Special Jury Award’, which goes to their favourite project amongst all. The online vote will open two weeks before Mipim and all registered Mipim delegates will be able to vote. They will also be able to vote at the Opening Cocktail on the evening of Monday 6th September and at the Awards Gallery in the Palais des Festivals on Tuesday 7th September until 7.00pm. The Awards Ceremony will take place at 3.00pm on Wednesday 8th September in the Debussy Auditorium, and will be live-streamed on the Mipim Digital platform
