Another piece of the jigsaw involving the ZIN project in the North District has fallen in to place. It was announced a few days ago which hotel will occupy part of the space of this redevelopment project of the World Trade Center towers 1 & 2 being undertaken by Befimmo. The Standard hotel (Standard International group) is set to open in 2025 and will offer 180 rooms, 20 branded apartments along with a ground floor greenhouse and a spectacular rooftop, with bars and restaurants.

The Standard Hotel group sets out to offer what it describes as world class boutique style hotels and has units operating in New York, London, Miami and the Maldives among other destinations. Others are planned for Lisbon, Bangkok, Singapore and Melbourne.Standard International CEO Amar Lalvani comments this future opening: “This property is a perfect step for The Standard in Europe. Once again, we will be completely and unexpectedly reinventing a property and transforming a neighbourhood. We can’t wait to surprise people and show them just how intriguing Brussels is and why we love it.”

Jean-Philip Vroninks, the new CEO of Befimmo, underlines: “We are extremely proud to welcome The Standard in ZIN. This iconic brand fits perfectly within the vision we have for ZIN and will amplify the re-stimulation of the Brussels North District. Thanks to the mix of functions (offices, hotel, apartments and shared spaces), we will create a building where there will always be life, 24/7, with different users occupying the spaces at different times.” One of the unusual features of the ZIN project, it will be recalled, is that the different functions will occupy alternating floors of the building, with separate entrances and lifts only serving a specific function.
