New casino soon to be Middelkerke landmark

Flemish Minister Zuhal Demir has now approved the environmental permit for ‘De Bolder’, the new Casino in Middelkerke. The complex is set to become a striking landmark, the focal point of the seaside resort. In addition to the casino’s gaming rooms, the new building will include an events hall for 1,700 persons, a 60 room hotel over 4 floors, an underground car park with 200 spaces and a restaurant with a magnificent terrace.

Only 25% of the building will be above ground, the rest being constructed under the dam, with a view out to the sea. The construction of De Bolder – including the renovation of Place Epernay – will amount to around 41 million Euros which are planned to be financed by the operating revenues from the casino, hotel and banquet halls. VK Architects & Engineers together with COBE, M&E are also taking part to this outstanding project.

Inauguration is scheduled by the end of 2023.
